Check out Pat Condell, video blogger, comedian and staunch atheist as he rips “angry christians” with overwhelming irony. All the best comedians, George Carlen, Richard Pryor, Chris Rock, speak the truth. This guy is no exception.

religion Heroes |
I think it’s Carlin, not Carlen, isn’t it?
This guy is my new hero!
This guy is hilarious(IMO). If you liked that clip you really should check out some of his others. They’re really worth listening/watching.
I like this website, there are some generally good posts on here. The arguments are well formed and easy to follow. However I think that Mr. Wolfe and Mr. Firth are clouded on some of their arguments. It would appear to me that your views of religion are, for the most part, negative. From everything I have observed in my life all the arguments and logical reasoning for or against religion in general is that it suits you. For me it does and for you, it would appear it doesn’t. I hope that you will be more passive in your further posts.
I am not asking you to cast aside your views in light of this blog is, well, an opinion blog. However it would be nice to your religious readers not to classify their views as being unjustifiably and inherently wrong . You cannot prove this assumption and it just weans credit from your other articles. I would appreciate some level of regard for your religious readers that have been with you since the first post. Once more I would like to thank you for writing your articles about drugs, obesity, and gun control; they were a joy to read.
@Alex, you are correct, it’s “Carlin.” I wrote the post in a hurry, what can I say?
@Andrew, there are metaphysical questions, like “Is there a God?” that I don’t pretend to know how to answer. But there are also empirical questions, like “does early childhood religious education reduce critical thinking skills?” Also, there are personal questions and then there are societal questions. If you believe in God, that’s your business. If you believe that homosexuality is a sin and therefore all gays should be put to death, that’s society’s business. In fairness, I will try to stay away from personal and metaphysical questions.
I don’t think anyone’s views are “inherently” wrong (unless self-contradictory), but some views are empirically wrong. I get in arguments with religious folks when they try to turn empirical questions into questions of opinion or assumption. Hmmmm. There’s an idea for a future post…
@Kavan. I should have stayed away from the word ‘inherently’ but thanks for making your views clear to me. I think that while Atheism is growing it is due more to push factors than to pull factors. I think people are simply fed up with all the dogma and bullshit in the church. I think that the lack of critical thinking in modern society is not due completely to religion being taught at a young age. I went to a strict catholic school where the word evolution was almost a swear word yet I still have a better grasp on it and, well, most concepts in my third year at a public high school compared to my peers, even the ones I share my honours and AP level courses with.
It would make for a fantastic article if you were to write how the growing social apathy of the U.S. is exponentially destroying every aspect of our lives. It destroys our critical thinking, our reasoning, our logic, our health, our work ethic, and virtually everything possible…hmm, I might just have to start blogging.
And I eagerly look forward to a post about when you argue with religious people because that same reasoning, working in reverse, is the sole reason I argue with some Atheists I know, that and the fact that they don’t even know what it means they simply don’t want to conform.
and why should they conform to religion that openly hates homosexuals and has a history of violence and death and wants to force everyone to live by their standards?
